birthplace: Lund, Sweden

fav ingredient: Crème fraîche--everything tastes better with just a dollop.

fav food: Linguini with littleneck clams in a white wine sauce. I order this at every new Italian eatery I try.

food I absolutely WILL NOT eat: Bull's testicles. Yes, I tried them once. Never again.

food I would only eat if I were starving: Liver. As with most people, this dates back to my childhood.

favorite food novel/movie: Like Water for Chocolate. I read it once in Spanish and once in English. Sensuous prose and intimate recipes.

fav cocktail: Campari and Tonic with lime. Perfectly bitter.

fav wine: Cabernet Sauvignon. It's hearty, warm, and comforting. Exactly how a wine should be.

fav cuisine: Italiano! How I long for a trip to the land of the boot....

fav chef: Deborah Madison. It's more than worship--it's veggie infatuation.

most exotic thing I've ever eaten: Tiny, alive, Japanese fish. They were actually quite tasty.

worst kitchen disaster: Leaving a lasagna pan on the kitchen floor and burning a hole through the linoleum. (Oh well, luckily I had a handy piece of aluminum to cover it up with-never let your guests see you in a panic...)

dinner time: 7:30. Usually. I'm very ritualistic when it comes to food.

comfort food: Spicy nuts, toast with homemade raspberry jam and cheese.

cooking philosophy: Recipes are for inspiration only. Be crazy and wild and creative. Besides, you never know what kind of delicacies you will uncover. Oh, and STOP consuming frozen dinners. They're gross.
