The photographs alone would have convinced me to purchase
this book. And the fact that all 100-something pages are comprised
of delicious appetizers makes it all the better. Page after
glorious page of mouthwatering recipes, by one of my favorite
authors, Joanne Weir. Here, as in most of her books, what
drew me in from page one are the simple, earthy recipes--equally
well suited to a casual evening among friends or and elegant
cocktail party or reception.
Another bonus is that the ingredients are separated from
the directions and self-contained in a soothing, yellow-hued
sidebar, followed by a symbol (when applicable) indicating
that this dish has components which can be made ahead of time.
And as any lovely hostess can tell you, this garners definite
plus points.
Also, each recipe is presented on an entire page, divided
into easily digestible paragraphs, always punctuated with
a line or two containing the nutritional values of each dish.
Spinach pockets, bite-sized croquettes, focaccia with gorgonzola
and green onions....You get the idea. Oh, and did I mention
the almost-edible photographs?
